ASST. PASTOR EUNICE AJOKE ADANLAWO

The life of Mrs. Eunice Ajoke Adanlawo was one of extraordinary light a life marked by resilience, elegance, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and to God.

Born on 24 August 1940, she was named Aribonaja, a name given because she arrived on a market day. She was baptized at four months old, beginning a lifelong journey of faith that shaped her character and her legacy.

She was the beloved daughter of Chief Jeremiah Olubila Ageh and Mrs. Esther Adeyemi Ageh, respected members of their community and St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ifon. Eunice was the youngest of her mother’s five children and had several half-siblings. Though her father had three wives and many children, she became the only surviving child of Chief Ageh a unique role that shaped her into a woman of dignity, wisdom, and quiet strength.

“Olúwa ni Olùṣọ́ mi; n kò ní ṣe aláìní ohun kan.”
— Orin Dafidi 23:1 (Psalm 23:1)

Mama Eunice Ajoke Adanlawo lived a life anchored in faith, grace, and quiet strength. She walked with God in humility and trust, allowing His word to guide her steps and shape her character. Her life was a testimony of love in action—expressed through service, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She was a nurturing mother, a pillar of wisdom, and a source of comfort to all who knew her. Like the virtuous woman described in Scripture, “Agbára àti ọlá ni aṣọ rẹ̀; ó sì ń rẹ́rìn-ín ayọ̀ ọjọ́ iwájú”
(Òwe 31:25 – Proverbs 31:25). Strength and honor clothed her life, and her legacy continues to bless generations.

The Word of God assures us:
“Olùkúùkù ẹni tí ó bá kú nínú Olúwa yóò di aláyọ̀, nítorí iṣẹ́ wọn ń tẹ̀lé wọn.”
(Ìfihàn 14:13 – Revelation 14:13)

Mama Eunice’s works—her prayers, her kindness, her faithfulness—live on in the hearts of her children, family, and all whose lives she touched.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are comforted by the hope we have in Christ. Jesus said,
“Èmi ni ajinde àti ìyè; ẹni tí ó bá gbà mí gbọ́, bí ó tilẹ̀ kú, yóò yè.”
(Johannu 11:25 – John 11:25)

We trust that Mama Eunice has entered into eternal rest, where pain and sorrow are no more, and where she now rejoices in the presence of her Maker.

May the Lord Himself comfort her loved ones, as His Word promises:
“Olúwa yóò fún un yín ní àlàáfíà pipe.”
(Aísáyà 26:3 – Isaiah 26:3)

Her life was a blessing. Her memory is a treasure. Her faith remains a shining light.

Sun re o, Mama. Sinmi l’áyà Jesu. A o tún pàdé ní ogo.

I have been truly blessed to know and love Grandma. To me, she was more than a grandmother she was a living example of grace, faith, and unconditional love.

Some of my most cherished memories with her are the quiet, intimate moments of me braiding her hair. She had a calming presence that made you feel safe, seen, and loved without her ever needing to say a word.

Grandma Eunice was a devoted servant of God whose faith guided every part of her life. She carried wisdom earned through years of perseverance, yet she wore it lightly, always leading with kindness and humility. Her love was boundless given freely to her family, her friends, and everyone who crossed her path.

She taught us what it meant to love selflessly, to remain steadfast in faith, and to move through life with dignity and compassion. Her laughter, her warmth, and her nurturing spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

Though we grieve her passing, we are grateful for the legacy she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith. Grandma Eunice Ajoke Adanlawo will always be remembered, deeply missed, and eternally cherished.

Aunty Ajoke had this unique voice that I just loved to listen to . My Father was very fond off her as his niece and i used to hang around when she came to visit my dad just because I wanted to hear her speak. :-)

Even as a child I admired the relationship she had with her husband. Their bond was just fascinating.

She had a very big heart and even though we hadn't spoken in a long time, she still reached out when my mum passed. I was extremely touched that she sent some money to me even when I knew she had long retired.

I thank God for Christ in her life and I know she's presently resting in the bosom of our Father.

We thank God for her beautiful legacy which is evident in her children.

Sleep well Auntie.

Tribute to Mummy Eunice Adanlawo

It was indeed rare opportunity and good privilege for my wife and I to have worked with Daddy and Mummy Adanlawo during our tenure as Pastor-in-Charge of RCCG Waves of Glory Parish, now Divine Glory and headquarters of Lagos Province 14. During this period, Mummy Adanlawo was very diligent, resilient, forthright and audacious. As an elder, mummy modeled leadership with integrity and selflessness. Together with my wife, they traveled to all parts of Nigeria in solidarity to attend virtually all events involving members of the then Okota family. During one of their annual women programmes, they conceived the idea of inviting the wife of RCCG General Overseer, Mummy GO. Then we were just an Area Headquarters under Lagos Province 11. It was like day-dreaming and like an idea that was far-fetched, but with their faith and strong resolve, Mummy GO actually came and was most pleased with their efforts, Kingdom virtues and arrangements. You couldn’t be with Mummy Adanlawo for one hour without learning something new, especially courage for the unusual!
We thank God for her life of service and commitment to God and humanity. Sweet indeed is mummy’s memory! We pray that the Lord’s presence abide with mummy’s survivors.

Family friend of Leke

My encounter with Mama Eunice Adanlawo began about four to five years ago when I regularly stood at the church entrance to welcome worshippers. Mama always came in with a radiant smile and warm greetings that reflected her gentle and loving spirit.
I was not surprised when I later learned from her son, Leke, that Mama was from the renowned Ageh family of Ifon, Ondo State — a family I became familiar with during the late 1980s when my father served as an Anglican priest in Ifon.
It was a great shock to receive the news of Mama’s passing. However, we take comfort in the assurance that she has gone to be with the Lord and is now part of the Church Triumphant, rejoicing eternally in the presence of her Maker. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.

We met mummy after our wedding, when we started to attend RCCG Cornerstone parish in Okota Isolo Nigeria over 20 years ago. What captivated me to her was her smile and wealth of wisdom.
I remember when she came to Calgary with the husband of blessed memory and she visited us. After chatting for a while with the granddaughter Ire, she requested to watch her favorite TV show " Anne of Green Gables" and she narrated the previous scenes and we sat for hours enjoying the show. Her daily walk around the neighborhood was very commendable. She is our gentle reminder of what truly matters. Her voice a calming anchor and the hugs very loving.
This is not just a farewell- it's a thank you. For all the moments big and small that made our world richer. This tribute celebrate that mix of love and personal connection that we'll forever cherish. Till we meet again.
We mourn your absence but celebrate the life you lived and the love you shared, knowing you've journeyed to eternity.

I have been blessed to know Grandma Adanlawo. Most of my memories I have with her and my favorite memories, were of me braiding her hair. I’ve always admired her hair, the way the gray mixed with the black strands and the softness that entailed from her roots to her ends. In those moments, I saw her gentleness, her patience, and the warmth she carried so naturally. She always made me feel welcome and valued, and her presence alone brought a sense of peace. Grandma Adanlawo lived a life rooted in love, care, and strength, and that legacy will continue through everyone she touched. I am grateful for the memories I carry with me, and I will always remember her with deep respect and love.

Forever blessed to know who Grandma Adanlawo, and blessed to know her family.
